After a devastating fire, the survivors must once again search for true life, for a connection with their instincts, intuition, and with each other. Emerging from the darkness, they journey back towards the light, navigating between fatalism and hope, the end times and the future, destruction and reconstruction. A screen prophesies. Is it a deceptive medium, a seer, a pedagogue, a demagogue, a liar, or a philosopher?
In 'WE, the EYES,' the survivors, following a destructive fire, seek the true essence of life, aiming to connect with their instincts, intuition, and each other. The group carves a path from total darkness to the light, exploring new forms of existence, life, and identity. Somewhere, it seems there is fire. How can they play with fire joyfully without burning out? How do they navigate between fatalism and hope, the end times and the future, destruction and reconstruction, between breath and breathlessness?
A dominant screen in the form of a sphere prophesies seven times with ecstatic images, blurring the line between reality and fiction. Is it a deceptive medium or a seer, a pedagogue or a demagogue, a liar or a philosopher? Ten performers unleash, beat drums, scream out, throw mud, stoke the fire, dance their souls out. In short, the playground serves as a battleground to learn to look, see, and not see. A sanctuary to mourn, accept, to tilt gazes, and change perspectives.
In 'WE, the EYES,' a micro-society is depicted, emerging out of nowhere and bringing bodies together in the here and now. How can we be fellow human beings now? What forms of empathy are possible? What will we discover about each other when we become "WE"? What then constitutes our identity? To the music and sounds of rock, bodysound, electronic, experimental, and classical music, the performers break through to a new world, fueled by the vocals, beats, and rhythms of percussion. The bodies are both mass and individual, guilt and innocence.
'WE, the EYES' aims to challenge perspectives in a society in crisis and claims change. It is the second performance in the WE-Cycle, following 'WE, the BREATH.' ICK is convinced that we are about to undergo profound changes. However, we are currently blind to their deeper dimensions. This hinders us. The WE projects provide a stage for the journey we collectively undertake as humanity.
