Following the successful productions Furia (2022) and La Despedida (2023), Van Deutekom presents a bold perspective on masculinity with her new work, étude des hommes.

As artist in residence, Patricia van Deutekom conducted research on masculinity and femininity, exploring behavioral codes and social norms in HUIS Conny Janssen Danst, May 2023. In étude des hommes, she delves into the theme of masculinity from a female perspective and body language, collaborating with two female dancers from her collective. It is an exploration of the essence, the narrative, and the strength that lies behind the emotions of jealousy and loneliness, as well as the actions and reactions of connection.

False Memories is crafted around the concept of the psychological mind, exploring the perspective of two individuals who share an indescribable connection with each other. In an abstract manner, the sense persists that they form a singular entity within their spiritual realm, regardless of whether they are physically together or separated.

The piece delves into the fragility of memory, highlighting how our recollections can be delicate and malleable. At times, we remember things as we wish them to be. Our imagination serves as a means to escape our own reality, seeking comfort or peace through the creation of alternate narratives.
