In Blind, five krumpers from Belgium, Spain, France, and Senegal participate in the same story in different parts of the world. They interrogate the conscious or unconscious blindness of a population living in a system that proudly proclaims its supposed freedom but meanwhile falls victim to daily discrimination.
After a meeting and a conversation about their cultures, Hendrickx Ntela and Pierre Dexter Belleka create the piece Blind. They find common ground in the krump culture, an outlet for their emotions. Influenced by political conflicts in their countries, they realize the cyclical nature of history and the importance of political discourse in our society. Blind seeks to contextualize various forms of civil disobedience. It feels like an almost rediscovered freedom, but is overshadowed by a society where immigrants and people of color continue to face opposition.
