Deze parels ontdekten we op onze avonturen over de hele wereld. Van de block parties in New York, tot de Street Culture in Japan: als schatgravers waren we bij de beste jams en verzamelden we de gekste gems. We delen ze jaarlijks op het Jams & Gems Festival en brengen ze nu ook naar je toe!
Wat je kunt verwachten?
Vanuit de theaterzaal word je meegenomen op een onvergetelijke reis over het festivalterrein. ‘Three is the Magic Number’, dus we zullen onderweg 3 stops maken: Meedeinen op de golven van muziek, poëtische teksten die zich in klanken omvormen tot harmonie en dans dat resoneert tot aan de achterste rij.
Word niet alleen toeschouwer, maar ook deelnemer aan deze avond. Verwacht een sonische sensatie door diverse ritmes en laat je verrassen door de onverwachte, organische overgangen waar The Ruggeds om bekend staan. Over The Ruggeds
Overal kom je ze tegen. In videoclips met mega sterren, op de grootste podia ter wereld, bij de Olympische Spelen, in de clubs en in het theater. The Ruggeds zijn meervoudig wereldkampioen Breaking, wonnen theaterprijzen en gingen viral met hun laatste voorstelling GROOVE. Ook met Jams & Gems: On Tour beloven ze theatermaken wederom opnieuw uit te vinden.
Eindhoven Ballroom
Zelf-expressie en community zijn een van de sleutelelementen van Jams & Gems.
Eindhoven Ballroom is een veilige ruimte voor queer dansers, performers en individuen om zichzelf vrij te uiten. Deze ondersteunende gemeenschap organiseert Eindhoven Ballroom Functions, regelmatige evenementen in Dynamo Eindhoven waar deelnemers kunnen oefenen voor ballroom competities, bekend als ‘balls.’
De categorieën omvatten Vogue (dansstijl), runway, realness (het authentiek uitbeelden van een specifiek maatschappelijk archetype), beauty en fashion, waarbij creativiteit en individualiteit worden gevierd. Eindhoven Ballroom zet de traditie voort van de ballroomscene, die in de jaren 70 in Harlem, New York, ontstond als een veilige plek voor queer mensen van kleur, en draagt zo bij aan zelfexpressie en empowerment.
Internationale Vrouwendag
Op 8 maart is het Internationale Vrouwendag en dat vieren we bij Theater Rotterdam met een gratis, inspirerend programma. Dus kom eerder naar het theater en neem deel aan één van de activiteiten.
The Ruggeds are back! After the overwhelming success of GROOVE, the breaking legends now bring their very own festival to the stage in the form of a brand-new show: Jams & Gems: On Tour. Get ready for an evening dedicated to celebrating movement: filled with captivating music, sensational dance, and inexplicably rare and beautiful art on stage.
These gems were discovered during our adventures around the world. From block parties in New York to the street culture of Japan: like treasure hunters, we attended the best jams and collected the craziest gems. We share them annually at the Jams & Gems Festival—and now, we’re bringing them to you!
What to Expect
From the theater seat, you’ll embark on an unforgettable journey across the festival grounds. “Three is the Magic Number”, so we’ll make three stops along the way: riding the waves of music, poetic texts transforming into harmonies, and dance resonating all the way to the back row.

About The Ruggeds
You’ll find them everywhere: in music videos with megastars, on the biggest stages in the world, at the Olympic Games, in clubs, and in theaters. The Ruggeds are multi-time world champions in Breaking, winners of theater awards, and went viral with their last show, GROOVE. With Jams & Gems: On Tour, they once again promise to reinvent theater.
Eindhoven Ballroom
Self-expression and community are some of the key elements of Jams & Gems.
Eindhoven Ballroom is a safe space for queer dancers, performers, and individuals to freely express themselves. This supportive community organizes Eindhoven Ballroom Functions, regular events at Dynamo Eindhoven where participants can practice for ballroom competitions, known as ‘balls.’
The categories include Vogue (dance style), runway, realness (authentically embodying a specific social archetype), beauty, and fashion, where creativity and individuality are celebrated. Eindhoven Ballroom continues the tradition of the ballroom scene, which originated in the 1970s in Harlem, New York, as a safe place for queer people of color, thus contributing to self-expression and empowerment.
