Ghetto Funk Collective is terug met hun nieuwe funky voorstelling It's on the one. Choreografen Ruben Chi en Roché Apinsa stonden samen aan de wieg van het Ghetto Funk Collective en hebben voor 'It's on the One' samen een nieuwe, dynamische choreografie in elkaar gezet. 

Naast de adembenemende dansvoorstelling geven de makers ook een kijkje achter de schermen met een boeiende short film. Ontdek de verhalen achter de muziek, de invloeden die hebben bijgedragen aan de ontwikkeling van (Ghetto) Funk en de impact ervan op de samenleving.

'It's on the one' is een gevleugelde uitdrukking in funkmuziek, waarbij de eerste tel van de maat benadrukt wordt. De uitspraak is bedacht door James Brown, bedoeld om zijn band in het gareel te houden tijdens optredens en opnames. James Brown stond aan de wieg van de funkmuziek, dus vandaar dat de Ghetto Funk Collective deze quote koos als titel voor een voorstelling die druipt en dreunt van de funk.

Met een passie voor het creëren en delen van dans, muziek en kunst die mensen in beweging brengt, is Ghetto Funk Collective uit Amsterdam een groep creatieve individuen die familie zijn geworden. Het collectief is opgericht door Ruben Chi en Roché Apinsa. Ze vonden elkaar in hun liefde voor funk, hiphopcultuur en de dansstijl locking. Beiden hebben meerdere internationale danswedstrijden gewonnen. Ghetto Funk Collective vertegenwoordigen de geest van funk in de 21e eeuw en zijn al snel een van de meest invloedrijke krachten in de mondiale funkscene geworden.

'It's on the one' is a well-known expression in funk music, referring to the emphasis on the first beat of the measure. Coined by James Brown to keep his band in line during performances and recordings, the phrase became a cornerstone of funk. As the godfather of the genre, Brown's legacy inspired Ghetto Funk Collective to choose this phrase as the title for a show that drips and thumps with funk.
