Biography

In 2021 Dalton Jansen (1993, Rotterdam) founded his current company BlackBirds. He has developed a new language of dance in his work, combining various disciplines such as spoken word, hip hop, contemporary dance and beak dance. He has recently been able to develop his dance vocabulary and language of movement – allowing him to share urgent stories and perspectives. This has been achieved with the support of Fonds Podiumkunsten (grant for new makers) and partner organisation Conny Janssen Danst, as well as DOX and production house Theater Rotterdam.

What Jansen loves best is to build a community for meeting, training, making and presenting. “It is important to create safe spaces where everyone feels at home and has a right to be.”
