Open call: Our Skin Workshop
Op 6 en 7 oktober wordt er een workshop georganiseerd rondom de dansfilm Our Skin van Rita Vilhena en Yael Karavan. Aan de workshop is ook een performatieve actie gekoppeld, die plaats zal vinden na de filmvertoning op 7 oktober.

Over het werk
Our Skin is ontstaan vanuit de intentie om contact met empathie voor onze omgeving en, meer specifiek, met (onze) natuur. Rita Vilhena & Yael Karavan voelen de urgentie om, als mondiale samenleving, te reflecteren op onze relatie met planeet aarde. Er is iets wat ons allemaal verbindt; de aarde onder onze voeten, planeet Aarde / moeder Aarde, menselijke kwetsbaarheid en het dreigende gevaar waaraan leven wordt blootgesteld.
Iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in deze thema’s is van harte genodigd om deel te nemen aan de workshop. De workshop is toegankelijk voor iedereen tussen de 18 en 88 jaar oud. Je hoeft geen ervaring te hebben met dans of performance.
Over de workshop
In het werk dat tijdens de workshop met de gemeenschap is ontwikkeld, zullen Rita & Yael informatie delen op basis van het onderzoek dat ze hebben uitgevoerd tijdens het maken ervan. Hierbij behandelen ze thema's als het Antropoceen, Ecofeminisme en de scheiding tussen natuur en cultuur.
De workshop omvat introductie/context van Our Skin, introductie van de kunstenaars en deelnemers, fysieke oefeningen en bespreking van de concepten. Later zullen de thema's worden verwerkt in een gezamenlijke creatie van een fysieke partituur, die zich materialiseert in een symbolische en performatieve actie van de deelnemer: een gebaar dat beroep doet aan ons bewustzijn en aan de urgentie om de relatie tussen samenleving en natuur te versterken; De tweede dag omvat een warming-up, verkenning en oefening van de uiteindelijke performatieve actiescore.

Deelnemers moeten comfortabele kleding en 1-3 middelgrote planten meenemen die ze gemakkelijk kunnen dragen, maar die niet te klein zijn.

On 6 and 7 October a workshop will be organized based on the dance film Our Skin by Rita Vilhena and Yael Karavan. The workshop is also linked to a performative action, which will take place after the film screening on 7 October.
About the film
Our Skin has as its genesis the intention to reestablish and strengthen contact and empathy with our environment and more specifically with (our) Nature. Rita Vilhena & Yael Karavan feel the urgency to reflect, as a global society, about our relationship with planet earth.There is something that connects us all, the Earth beneath our feet, planet Earth/Mother Earth, human fragility, and the imminent danger to which life is subjected.
We therefore invite people interested in these themes to join us for two days, October 6th - 7th from 15h-18h to workshop and participate in a performative action following the presentation of the film on the 7th in the evening.
About the workshop
The workshop is open to people from 18-88 years old and does not require any previous experience in dance or in performance. In the work developed with the community during the workshop, Rita & Yael will share information based on the research they have been carrying out during its making. Approaching themes such as the Anthropocene, Ecofeminism, and the separation between nature and culture. The workshop will include introduction/context of Our Skin, presentation of the artists and participants, physical practice and discussion of the concepts. Later, these themes will be transported into a joint creation of a physical score which materializes in a symbolic and performative action by the participants, in a gesture appealing to our consciousness and to the urgency of strengthening the relationship between society and nature. The second day will include warming up, exploration and practice of the final performative action score.

Participants should bring comfortable clothes and 1-3 medium sized plants which they can carry easily but which aren't too small.
