TRaces: Geert Mul
Tijdens het gratis expo-programma TRaces nodigt Theater Rotterdam Rotterdamse kunstenaars, van beginnende tot gevestigde, uit ons gebouw als podium te gebruiken voor doorlopende exposities van interdisciplinair werk, die aansluiten bij de stad Rotterdam en haar inwoners. Van 19 februari t/m 13 april tonen we het werk van Geert Mul.
Over TRaces
Tijdens het gratis expo-programma TRaces nodigen we Rotterdamse kunstenaars, van opkomend tot gevestigd, uit om ons gebouw te gebruiken als podium voor doorlopende tentoonstellingen van interdisciplinair werk dat verbinding maakt met de stad Rotterdam en haar inwoners. De hal is de tentoonstellingsruimte waar deze uitgenodigde Rotterdamse kunstenaars hun sporen achterlaten. Is er een voorstelling in de grote zaal? Dan kun je voor aanvang, tijdens en kort na afloop van de voorstelling altijd binnenlopen tijdens de expo-periode. Vanaf 19 februari verwelkomen we Geert Mul.
Over de kunstenaar
Geert Mul (1965) onderzoekt al meer dan 25 jaar de mogelijkheden van een visuele poëzie binnen de taal van nieuwe media. Zijn oeuvre omvat een breed scala aan experimentele kunstwerken, waaronder prints, lichtobjecten, video en interactieve/generatieve computerinstallaties. Deze werken zijn tentoongesteld in musea, festivals en openbare ruimte. De wisselwerking tussen technologie en perceptie vormt een leidmotief in Muls werk.
Mul heeft geëxposeerd in onder andere Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Kröller-Müller Museum, The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto, Museo Nacional Reina Sofía in Madrid, Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM), en het Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Daarnaast heeft hij meer dan twintig kunstwerken gerealiseerd in de openbare ruimte en won prijzen in binnen- en buitenland. Meer over Geert Mul's loopbaan
(Sur)render
In de voorstelling (Sur)render van Alida Dors is Geert Mul verantwoordelijk voor het vormgeven van de video art & video design. Om die reden is de eerste speeldag van (Sur)render ook de eerste dag dat deze editie van TRaces te bezichtigen is.
Vernissage
Deze editie van TRaces met het werk van Geert Mul wordt geopend op vrijdag 21 februari om 18:30 in de erker van TR25 Schouwburg, voorafgaand aan de première van de voorstelling (Sur)render. Je bent van harte welkom om hierbij aanwezig te zijn en samen het glas te heffen op deze expo. Deze is daarna t/m 12 april (de laatste speeldag van (Sur)render) gratis te bezoeken tijdens de in- en uitloop van voorstellingen in de grote zaal. About TRaces
During the free expo program TRaces, we invite Rotterdam artists, from emerging to established, to use our building as a stage for ongoing exhibitions of interdisciplinary work that connect with the city of Rotterdam and its residents. The lobby is the exhibition space where these invited Rotterdam artists leave their mark! Is Theater Rotterdam open? Then you can always drop in during the expo period. From February 19th until April 13th we welcome the artist Geert Mul.
About the artist
For over 25 years, Geert Mul (1965) has explored the possibilities of visual poetry within the language of new media. His oeuvre spans a broad spectrum of experimental artworks, including prints, light objects, video, and interactive/generative computer installations. These works have been exhibited in museums, festivals and public spaces. The interplay between technology and perception serves as a leitmotif in Mul’s work.
Mul has exhibited at institutions including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Kröller-Müller Museum, The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto, Museo Nacional Reina Sofía in Madrid, Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM), and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. (Sur)render
In the performance (Sur)render by Alida Dors, Geert Mul is responsible for the creation of the video art & video design. For that reason the first day (Sur)render can be seen in our main auditorium is also the first day you can attend this edition of TRaces.
This edition of TRaces will have its grand opening Friday February 21st at 18:30 in the erker of TR25 Schouwburg, prior to the premiere of the performance (Sur)render by Alida Dors. You are most welcome to join us and have a toast on the expo. From then on the expo is free to visit until april 13th before and after the performances in the main auditorium.
