Andreas Hannes
Anthology is the new full-length performance by Andreas Hannes, choreographer and founder of Stichting Rattleworks. Since 2017, skipping has been central to much of Andreas’ work: that cheerful, infectious skipping movement often made as a child while walking, which expresses the human need for motion.
In Anthology, Andreas, along with five other dancers, explores the origins of skipping. More specific, its various applications throughout dance history – from folk dance to ballet, from club dance to hip-hop. He connects this expressive form of movement with pop music in a playful and innovative dance piece that stimulates thought and resonates with our times through collective memory.
Andreas’ artistic practice is rooted in hope. In a rapidly changing world, it is important to remain hopeful, as hope keeps us connected with one another, regardless of differences in belief, culture, or preferences. Skipping is a physical expression of practicing hope; those who skip are hopeful. And Anthology takes the audience on a rhythmic adventure that reminds us of the importance of joy in life.
