Zoals in elk van zijn creaties laat Serge Aimé Coulibaly zich inspireren door Afrikaanse culturen, inwijdingsrituelen, de rol van maskers en het woord, en koppelt hij deze aan de hedendaagse mondiale context. Met C la Vie volgt Serge Aimé Coulibaly de grote traditie van inwijdingsverhalen en creëert hij een stuk dat resoluut hedendaags is dankzij het gebruik van lichamen, stem, muziek en video. De voorstelling nodigt uit om onze keuzes als mens en als burger te bevragen: Hoe kunnen we zin geven aan ons leven?

A contemporary initiation journey

C La Vie is a new chapter in the work of choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly, showcasing his virtuosic, generous, engaged, and powerful dance brimming with wild energy. As in all his creations, Serge Aimé Coulibaly draws inspiration from African cultures, initiation rituals, the role of masks and the word, linking them to the contemporary global context. With C La Vie, Serge Aimé Coulibaly follows the great tradition of initiation stories, creating a piece that is resolutely contemporary through the use of bodies, voice, music, and video. The performance invites us to question our choices as individuals and citizens: How can we give meaning to our lives?
